BYD broke its silence about its vehicle whose engine broke off in China. Regarding the images that came to the fore on social media, BYD announced that they were not caused by a production error.
An official statement came from the manufacturer following the images of the engine of a BYD Tang model breaking off while driving on the road and hanging from the bottom, which had a great impact in the automotive world and social media last week.
In the video shot in rainy weather, the fact that the vehicle continued on its way despite the breakage of a large piece at the bottom of the vehicle caused a great wave of curiosity and speculation among automobile enthusiasts. While comments were made that the vehicle could progress in this way due to its hybrid structure, the Chinese automotive giant BYD, which attracted attention, clarified the issue after a few days of silence.
“IT IS NOT CAUSED BY AN INSTALLATION ERROR”
In the official statement made by the company, it was emphasized that the incident was not caused by a production or assembly error, but was due to a completely external factor. It was stated that while the vehicle in question was driving on a road covered with flood waters, it hit a very hard object that remained at the bottom of the water and was invisible. BYD stated that the relevant part of the vehicle was dislodged as a result of this severe impact from below.
BYD customer services department shared that the technical investigations carried out confirmed this determination. Driving data of the vehicle and damage analysis at the connection points revealed that the rear electric motor of the vehicle was torn from its housing due to the impact of the hard collision.
The company prevented speculation by underlining that the extraordinary accident occurred entirely as a result of a physical blow.
