The province of Chubutled by the governor Ignacio “Nacho” Torresand the National Communications Entity (ENACOM) presented this Thursday in Rawson the program Chubut Digital Hub 2030.

This is the signing of a letter of intent to promote the installation of the second submarine fiber optic cable mooring point in Argentina. The initiative seeks to reduce dependence on a single entry of international data traffic.

The announcement was made in Constituent Hall from the Government House, in Rawson. There, the province brought together national authorities, technology companies, service providers, business chambers and representatives of the scientific-technological system to set a common roadmap.

The formal focus of the day was the signing of a letter of intent between Torres and the head of ENACOM, Juan Martin Ozoresa step that establishes the bases for future specific agreements. The Minister of Production of Chubut also participated in the signing, Juan Pavonand the engineer Miguel Ángel Pesadorepresenting Argentine Associated Engineers.

The plan for digital infrastructure

The province presented the program Chubut Digital Hub 2030 with the aim of consolidating itself as one of the main digital infrastructure poles of the country. The plan contemplates investments in telecommunications, data centers and artificial intelligence.

The proposal aims to The Chubut coast hosts the country’s second submarine fiber optic cable mooring point. If it advances, it will incorporate a new connection route for international data traffic, which today enters Argentina through a single point.

Torres maintained that Chubut meets the conditions to attract the financing required for projects of this scale. The governor also stated that the province has competitive advantages that place it in a strategic position compared to other jurisdictions.

Ozores defined the technical collaboration agreement as a “qualitative leap” for the province and the region. The head of the national organization added that Chubut is among the provinces that benefit the most from the National Technology Hub, with connectivity that reaches schools, health centers and SMEs located in remote areas.

From the national organization, participation in the project was linked to the guidelines of the National Critical Communications Infrastructure Plan. This scheme promotes the deployment of modern, safe and sustainable connectivity networks throughout the Argentine territory.

The event also brought together members of the ICT camerauniversities and technology-based companies. The objective of this call was to unify efforts between the public sector, the scientific system and private actors to organize the development of digital infrastructure in the province.
