Jorge Martín BossiArgentine actor, comedian and imitator, was born in Lomas de Zamora on October 16, 1974. Before dedicating himself completely to entertainment, he worked as a tennis teacher and studied Social Communication at the National University of Lomas de Zamora.

With a career that spans television, theater and film, he has spent more than two decades building a career marked by versatility. From his first appearances on television to his successful one-man shows, he made reinvention a personal brand.

Behind the histrionic character, Bossi also went through moments of deep introspection. In this interview, he spoke about his relationship with love, the search for happiness, and the challenges he had in his personal life and throughout his career.

Currently, the artist stars the iconic French comedy that returned to the Argentine stage with great success. In this new stage, Bossi demonstrates once again his talent for acting and reaffirms his validity on stage, while continuing to conquer the public with a journey that combines humor, emotion and a constant artistic search.

Here, the highlights of the interview:

“I was very bad, without much desire to live”

—At 39 years old I had, as I call it, a “spiritual stroke.” I fell because of the death of my old man, I fell because I had built my career based on lies, in the sense of disguising myself to tell the truth. And I had separated from a girlfriend. I don’t want to use the word “depression,” because I want to be respectful, but I was very bad, very bad. Not much desire to continue, to live. It was difficult for me to continue. I was devastated. I asked God, please, to talk to my dad because I didn’t know how to continue. “Please help me, accompany me, because I don’t know if I can get out.” The topic was very dark. I asked my dad: “I’m going to act.” When I finish, a woman approaches me and says: “Can we talk? I saw you looking very bad, Martín. And I saw someone near you.” “As?” “Yes. What person that you don’t have has these characteristics? There is a gray-haired, tanned, muscular man, with marked legs. With brick dust on his legs.” It was my old man. I mean, he described my old man to me.

I wasn’t laughing anymore and the woman told me: “You have to laugh. You’re not laughing anymore, are you, Martín?” And I go to a bar and I never forget it. A boy comes, leaves me a picture and leaves. The boy had a very special look. He comes back, asks me for an autograph and tells me: “You’re sad. And I was waiting for you,” he tells me. “I’ve been waiting for you for a long time,” the kid tells me. And he looked at me. “But well, you saw, you fell now. Now you fell. You came here to this bar and I was waiting for you.” The kid leaves. I do like this. A little image of the Virgin of the Smile. From then on, at 40, I really started to be happy.

“I keep thinking that I am going to find the love of my life”

—I’m leaving here and I keep thinking that around the corner I’m going to find the love of my life. One has several loves in life.

—No, he doesn’t have several loves in his life.

—Have you found it yet?

-No.

—Are you still looking for him?

—Yes, I think they still haven’t loved me like I love them. That’s why I don’t give up. I have been having husbands, boyfriends, everything…

—How do you want them to love you?

—Like me, one hundred percent.

—I believe that love is not one way. I have been a… great storyteller in love. I was not a brave guy to face my loves and say: “I want to live love like this.” Just like those who give up alcohol, drugs or gambling, I gave up lying… And when I started to tell the truth I was left very alone. I have been unfaithful, Caro. I said to love in a way and then, in the back, of course, the old story. I mean, neither…

—When you start a new relationship, do you say, “Look, I can be unfaithful”?

-No no. I have had open relationships in the sense that fidelity involved having certain limits. Sexually, each man for himself, you don’t have to fall in love.

—Ah, it was horrible. That is, start like this. For a romantic it’s like…

—No, no, but… If I fall in love today and that love requires exclusivity, I won’t miss a love because of that fucking habit.

—Then yours is quite flexible.

—I am flexible, yes.

—What appeals to you more, a monogamous relationship or an open relationship?

—It’s not what “draws me the most”, it’s the person! I wouldn’t bring it up, I wouldn’t come with that story, because I love and I don’t want to lose.

—But can you hold it afterwards?

—Yes, because there is a moment that is already here!

“Today I would like to have a family”

—Would you like to have your family?

—Yes, today yes.

—And why today and not before?

—Because it was not a priority. And because at forty or thirty-five I was a kid who came from Lomas de Zamora and, of course… I don’t want to be too explicit. Wanted to..

—Tell me a story about an infidelity that was discovered.

—It happened with one of my first neighborhood girlfriends. And it was the first time I was unfaithful. I started lying with a lot of guilt because I came from a religious family. My girlfriend from the neighborhood, from Lomas de Zamora, suspected it. I went to Carlos Paz on vacation with friends and this girl was there. But she was in love with a kid who was a theater teacher. We, the kids from Lomas, had a small group that didn’t have a penny, but we invited these girls to come to a restaurant. We didn’t have a handle, so we told them to come with meals. This kid’s friends fall, some of whom were cardholders at a bowling alley, they ruin our night because these girls started paying attention to him and started consuming. And we, who had invited…

—They were going to be bankrupt.

—We were leaving without paying, which was something we did. An announcer comes on stage and there was a system that was not known in 1994, which was called karaoke. It says: we start with karaoke, the winners of each table have for a month. Nightly. Of course, when they said that, the kids looked at me:Negro, go to the stage and do what you already know.” I won the contest, invitation for everyone. We leave that place and this kid, who was a theater teacher, tells me: “Look, I know that you really like the girl who is with me. I don’t like you, but I can’t help but tell you that you have to study theater. What I just saw is not normal.” And he gives me a phone number that says EFA, School of Actor Training. So, I write down “EFA”, the phone number and I put it in my jeans. One day I go to take a bath at this girl’s house and he checks my jeans. And when I come out he tells me: you’re cheating on me. Which was true, because the other girl had already given me the ball. And when I’m about to confess the truth about who I was in love with and that Yes, I was dating two girls at the same time, she tells me: “Who is “EFA”?” And she calls and they say “Acting Training School.” “Oh, excuse me.” We decided to end the relationship and I started having a relationship with the other girl.

—!it’s the butterfly effect!

—I go and enter and Víctor Laplace was there, and he says to me: “What do you want?” I tell him: “I want to study theater. He tells me: “but if you close the registration now and dress like this.” “Please, an opportunity.” So for a matter of love, of not lying and telling the truth, I accidentally started studying theater.

“I don’t like to make content with my love life”

Pampita's thing - Martín Bossi

—I don’t like to make content with my love life. I have rules. Never hold hands on the street, never! I don’t want the photo. I try to be very careful. I don’t want to share with unknown people what for me is something private. Now, I fall in love with Penélope Cruz and Penélope Cruz gives me ball…

—Ah, you do shake Penelope’s hand, what a shame!

—But because I don’t have another one, Caro. What do you want me to do? But I try to ask God not to fall in love with someone I know. Generally I have fallen madly in love with women who have nothing to do with the environment.

—And do you know people through networks?

—Yes, well, of course. In the last fifteen years I have met people through networks.

—And does the chat on networks get spicy?

—At what levels?

—I don’t know, at the level of sexting, sending photos.

-No no. I’m paranoid. I get up and look at myself …

—And they send you?

—I have received. Of all kinds.

—But you have to be generous. If they send you, you have to send something.

—No, Caro, but besides, I’m not Drago. I am not Iván de Pineda. What do you want me to send, Caro? Don’t tease me either. I spice, I like to spice with verbal things. If it happens, even with someone who has a connection. But this “look what I have”, what do I have? Imagine… I’m fifty-something, I’m not thirty-two years old.

“At 40 years old I was at my right point”

—At forty I was at my point, yes, my right point. All kinds of women of all ages notice you. At thirty-eight, for a girl of twenty-five you are an option, the same for a girl of twenty-four, of fifty, of sixty-five, for all of them you are an option.

—Wait, you still go to a bowling alley at three in the morning?

—No, not at all.

—And, but you saw that if you go out with a twenty-year-old you have to go bowling.

—No, but twenty doesn’t get there either, no.

—What is the limit?

—There are no limits. In that sense I am open. I don’t say: “Ah, you’re twenty-seven, I fell in love and I can’t be with you because…”. As long as it is within the normal parameters of what is possible.

—Tonight you arrive home, and is there someone waiting for you?

-No. No, there is no one waiting for me, but one is never alone, alone.

—Is there room in the closet if the girl arrives with her clothes?

—I have no problem, I had a phobia of that before. I have reached the toiletry bag. I’ve even gotten to my pajamas.

-And now? Are there pajamas?

—No, but I’m looking, Caro.

“Disobedience is the basis of success”

—When I was eighteen I started to have a wife to support, who was my mother, and a daughter, who was my sister, who was a fourteen-year-old girl. You notice that my father dies at the age of forty-seven, he holds a meeting in bed and tells me: “Take charge of this structure.” It’s not that he told me: “Because you are the greatest”, but he told me “you are the man”.

—It was written that the man cared.

-Clear. So, I still would have taken charge because I was the oldest.

Pampita's thing - Martín Bossi

—And how did you live that role? Too much pressure?

—And my momHe said: “We have to be here, it’s a family, we are hungry here.” “Hey, dear, the light bulb.” And I: “A light bulb? How do you change a light bulb?” So, I had to go out to teach tennis lessons and when my friends went to dance, I already had the responsibility of a family to support. And if I didn’t bring food, he didn’t get sick.

—And emotionally, how did you contain it?

—It was very violent, because the absence of a guy who was irreplaceable, who apart from when he left told me to my face that I was a failure, and look, I love my father, but it was very hard. You can’t tell an eighteen year old that, but oh well. And they laughed at me because… they feel sorry for you, because you’re a good kid, but they don’t laugh because you imitate well. It was very hard. I love him. Among the games that I had in my life, my aunt Alejandra and my uncle Omar, I say that mother there are only two. One of my mothers was my aunt Alejandra and my uncle Omar. They died in 2010 and 2014, both from a severe illness. I am left with Romancito alone, at fourteen years old, and my mother tells me: “The last request I make of you, take care of the baby.” And I say: “But I can’t take care of it…” And I raised him. Today that kid, Román, manages everything for me. And I realized that in Román’s upbringing I have many things from my father, the best of my father. Not all of them were bad from my old man. But it was very hard to have to support a family until I decided to disobey and started studying acting, going to social events and that’s when the money started coming in.

—Thank goodness you disobeyed.

—The thing is, I believe that disobedience is the basis of success.
